Elizabeth Holmes is the founder and CEO of Theranos, a company transforming lab diagnostics. After studying microfluidics and nanotechnology at Stanford University's School of Engineering, Holmes left in 2003 to build Theranos around her patents and vision for healthcare.
Her vision is to create a world of empowered patients who can take control of their health through real-time diagnosis and monitoring, with testing that has open and transparent pricing schemes. Prior to her time at Stanford, while still in high school, Holmes also started a business to distribute C++ software to Asian universities.
