Mr. Juan Andrés Fontaine Talavera serves as the Chilean Minister of Economy, Development and Tourism.

Fontaine graduated from high school at Colegio Sagrados Corazones de Manquehue and he obtained his Business Administration degree, with a concentration on Economics, from the Universidad Católica de Chile. He continued his studies and obtained a Master`s degree in economics from the University of Chicago.

Mr. Fontaine served as a professor at the Economics Institute of the Universidad Católica de Chile for more than a decade, and he has also undertaken academic activities at the Institute of Public Affairs at Universidad de Chile. In the 1990's, he was a visiting professor at the University of California, Los Angeles.

His academic knowledge has also applied to the development of public policies, both as a Director of Research at the Chilean Central Bank and as a member of the committee that drafted the Central Bank's current statute.
