Wang is the co-founder, chief technology and creative officer of Smule. Wang is also an Assistant Professor at Stanford University in the Center for Computer Research in Music and Acoustics (CCRMA). He holds a PhD in Computer Science from Princeton University and a BS in Computer Science from Duke University.
Wang is the creator and chief architect of the ChucK audio programming language, and is the founding director of the Stanford Laptop Orchestra (SLOrk) and of the Stanford Mobile Phone Orchestra (MoPhO). He sits on the Board of Governors for the San Francisco Symphony.

Smule Co-Founder Ge Wang tells the origin story of his company, which seeks to connect the world through music and expression. Wang describes himself as an "accidental entrepreneur" who chose to start a company when he and his co-founder saw alignment between their research interests and emerging opportunities in the mobile space.
