Mike Olson co-founded Cloudera in 2008 and served as its CEO until 2013 when he took on his current role of chief strategy officer (CSO). As CSO, Olson is responsible for Cloudera's product strategy, open source leadership, engineering alignment and direct engagement with customers.
Prior toCloudera, Mike was CEO of Sleepycat Software, makers of Berkeley DB, the open source embedded database engine. He spent two years at Oracle Corporation as vice president for Embedded Technologies after Oracle's acquisition of Sleepycat in 2006. Prior to joining Sleepycat, Mike held technical and business positions at database vendors Britton Lee, Illustra Information Technologies and Informix Software. Mike has a Bachelor's and a Master's Degree in Computer Science from the University of California, Berkeley.
Ping joined Accel in 2004 and focuses primarily on information technology infrastructure and digital media solutions. He currently serves on the Board of Directors at BitTorrent, Mendocino Software, Mochi Media, Mu Security, and YuMe. Prior to Accel, Ping was a Senior Product Line Manager and Director of Corporate Development at Juniper Networks. He managed a product portfolio with revenues of over $50 mm/quarter. He also worked as a strategy consultant for McKinsey & Company. Ping has extensive international experience as well. He has worked at Singapore Telecom and at Goldman Sachs Asia. Ping continues to work in Asia with IDG-Accel China Fund. Ping holds an A.B. from Harvard University, with honors, and an M.B.A. from Stanford University.
