Rahul Roy-Chowdhury has been CEO of Grammarly since May 1. Prior to stepping in to the role, he served as Global Head of Product, where he oversaw everything that makes the company’s writing assistance software tick, managing the product, design, and data science teams.

Before coming aboard at Grammarly, Roy-Chowdhury spent many years at Google leading the Privacy, Safety, and Security teams to unified solutions across Google’s product portfolio. Prior to that, he helmed the product management teams for the Chrome browser and Chrome OS. He is proud of his work helping billions of people worldwide access the power of the open web. Roy-Chowdhury also mentors entrepreneurs and product leaders, sharing his experience and the lessons he’s learned along the way.

Roy-Chowdhury is passionate about product as a craft, from the foundations of data and design to the end-user experiences. He connects with Grammarly’s mission and appreciates working with people who are motivated to make a positive impact in the world.

Roy-Chowdhury holds a BS in mathematics from Hamilton College, an MS in computer science from Columbia University, and an MBA from Stanford Graduate School of Business. One of his big personal goals is to impart his love of ’80s music to his children, and he hopes he made an inroad recently with Queen’s “Another One Bites the Dust.”
