Shiza Shahid is the co-founder and co-CEO of Our Place, a mission-driven startup reimagining kitchenware for the modern, multiethnic, global kitchen. Deeply rooted in our culture, the brand celebrates gathering and food traditions around the world.
Our Place was founded in 2019 on the belief that home cooking has the power to bring people together. Since then, it has gone from strength to strength, launching in Canada and the UK as well. Our Place’s innovative, beautiful and sustainable designs have resulted in more than 140 patents, more than 30,000-person waitlists and more than 1,000 press headlines. The iconic Always Pan has sold out more than 30 times and is loved by celebrities around the world from Lizzo to David Beckham.
Prior to Our Place, Shahid also co-founded the Malala Fund with Nobel Prize winner Malala Yousafzai. She led the organization as founding CEO, advocating for and investing in for the rights of all girls to attend school. Shahid also launched NOW Ventures, an angel fund to invest in mission-driven startups including Pachama, Cleo, and Parsley Health, with a focus on female founders.
Shahid has received many awards for work. She was named one of TIME’s 30 Under 30 People Changing the World, Forbes 30 Under 30 – Social Entrepreneurs, Elle Magazine’s Top Women in Tech, and INC Magazine’s Top Female Founders. She has been a Tribeca Institute Disruptive Innovator and a member of the World Economic Forum’s Global Agenda Council on Education,. She is regularly featured in multiple publications, including the New York Times, the Today Show, Fast Company, Glamour, Town and Country, The Edit, CNN, ABC, MSNBC, and others.
Shahid frequently speaks at major international events, including Aspen Ideas Fest, Milken Global Institute, Forbes Women, Fortune Most Powerful Women, Inc Women, Women Moving Millions, World Economic Forum and others.
