Sarah Nahm, Co-Founder & CEO, Lever

In 2012, inspired by the HR headaches they’d observed working for technology companies, Sarah Nahm and a few friends founded Lever, a talent recruitment platform aimed at transforming the hiring process with intuitive yet data-driven software. Two years later, in 2014, she was named CEO.

At Lever, Nahm has been just as focused on her own hiring practices as on those of her clients. In a 2017 interview published on Medium, she shared some of her observations about Lever’s efforts to build a company around diversity. “The hardest lesson was how long things take,” she says. “I was the only woman at Lever for two years, when we started with a dozen people.” Still, by emphasizing diversity as they scaled, Nahm and her team achieved a 50/50 gender balance while expanding to more than 40 countries and 2,000 customers.

Nahm earned a BS in product design and mechanical engineering at Stanford. Later, at Google, she wrote speeches for then-VP Marissa Mayer and became the product marketing manager responsible for Chrome’s international markets.

This appearance by Sarah Nahm is part of the Entrepreneurial Thought Leaders series. Join us live as we bring founders, investors and industry influencers to center stage and invite them to share what it takes to become a disruptor.
